The McKenzie Method®Empowering patients with education and active involvement
At ReSOLVE we pride ourselves on being certified in and utilizing the most up-to-date research backed method of physical therapy to assess, diagnose, and treat our patients.
Also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), the McKenzie method is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education for back, neck, and extremity problems. The key distinction is its initial assessment component—a safe and reliable means to accurately reach a diagnosis and only then make the appropriate treatment plan. Expensive tests are rarely required because Certified MDT clinicians have indicators to know whether—and how—the McKenzie Method will work for each patient.
Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy is an internationally acclaimed method of assessment and treatment for spinal and extremity pain developed by New Zealand Physiotherapist Robin McKenzie. Starting with a chance discovery in the 1950’s followed by considerable experimentation through the 1960-70s he found rapid results could consistently be obtained in people with mechanical or musculoskeletal pain using different movements. Research began in the United States in the 1980’s and continues to this day around the world, making MDT the most researched conservative method of treating musculoskeletal disorders worldwide. MDT categorizes musculoskeletal disorders by how the symptoms behave with dynamic movements rather than relying on static images of the body obtained by X-ray or MRI to assign a pathoanatomical diagnosis. Our Certified MDT clinicians are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat all areas of the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. Tom Trumbull founded ReSOLVE in 2017 with the goal of educating and empowering individuals to reduce or eliminate their pain and symptoms. Our team can get you back to doing what you love!
Is MDT for you?
Spine and extremity problems are some of the most common types of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), mechanical pain and symptoms can be rapidly reversed with movement. Still wondering if you could benefit from a McKenzie Method® assessment?
What our patients are saying
“I had a severe back injury resulting in debilitating sciatic nerve pain to the point I could no longer walk or stand because it was excruciatingly painful. I am so fortunate that I found Resolve Physical Therapy (31 & Taylor). Before finding them there was zero to almost zero hope that I could heal from the injury without surgery. Because of the severity and duration of my injury I still have a little ways to go but I am confident at this point in my journey that I will be able to heal naturally and not have the burden that the limitations of surgery would have left me with. I speak highly of every team member in that office. The experience there is different from most as they use MDT therapy or the McKenzie Method. It has given me my life back. It is amazing to finally have a day free of pain.”
